The tradition of lesbian choirs in the LGBT community runs deep, and the Portland Lesbian Choir has been at it for over 25 years. My good friends Bettie and Eileen got me into the lesbian choir scene back in the Bay Area, and it was wonderful.
The PLC is a non-audition community chorus welcoming all women who love to sing and laugh in harmony with other women, regardless of musical skill or experience. No audition necessary to attend either—Come one! Come all!
Their first concert of 2013 is on February 2, and the theme is “Chicken Soup for the Lesbian Soul—Vegan Friendly.” The evening includes a selection of songs of food, fun and culinary delight, followed by the traditional rousing dance event.
Lesbian choir events have always been one of the most joyous and fun-filled community events I’ve ever attended. If you’ve never been to the Portland Lesbian Choir, hope you’ll check out one of their 2013 concerts.
