Pillow Talk is such a classic with so many gay connections. If you haven’t seen it, you simply must get yourself down to the NW Film Center this weekend. A restored print of this romantic comedy starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson is screening as part of tribute series to 100th anniversary of Universal Pictures.
What is so gay about Pillow Talk? Doris Day, duh. Rock Hudson, double duh. Sassy Thelma Ritter and that big question mark Tony Randal, duh again. And closeted Rock Hudson playing a macho straight guy trying to win the heart of Doris Day by pretending be a little light in loafers? Boom done. The splitscreen shenanigans and razor sharp dialog makes Pillow Talk one classic romantic comedy not to miss.
(Tomorrow….another queer outing to the movies)
