34. Get Your Tickets for Joey Arias–Hitting PDX on February 26th

JoeyAThere is simply no one on earth like NYC performance artist Joey Arias, and he is coming to Portland on February 26th, along with singer/songwriter Kristian Hoffman.  If you missed his private performance at opening night of QDOC back in 2011, then do not miss this opportunity.  I said, “DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!”

From the barrios of LA to the NYC performance art scene, Joey Arias has been a enduring figure in queer arts and culture through three decades.  Recently, he has been known for his work with puppeteer Basil Twist on the stage show Arias With a Twist. Working with the likes of Klaus Nomi and Thierry Mugler, Joey’s performances broke boundaries around the world.  Friend and colleague Ann Magnuson describes Joey as a “cosmic surrealistic psychedelic glamour clown.”  Another collaborator with Nomi and Magnuson, Hoffman is also known for his band The Mumps with high school friend Lance Loud and for his work with Rufus Wainwright.

We have no idea what will be in store for us at the Alberta Rose Theater (which is the perfect PDX venue for Joey) on February 26th, but it is guaranteed to be a night to remember.
