47. Hang Out at JOQs

joqsIt is a long weekend, but also a busy weekend.  Looking to just chill and hang out for a bit at a neighborhood joint.  JOQs just might be the place.

A long time fixture in Irvington, JOQs is the neighborhood queer bar you’ve always wished you had.  If you are a long-time Portlander who hasn’t been to JOQs in awhile, it is no longer down near 15th and Broadway….now up by 25th.

Nothing fancy, but lots of friendly down-to-earth neighbors and visitors hanging out, enjoying the evening.  They have a great happy hour and pretty decent food and good prices.  JOQs is known for having a great pool table scene and can be a great spot for queer sports fans to watch the game.  However, the bar’s name JOQ’s is not a reference to being a sports bar.  Nope….rumor has it JOQ are the initials of the original owner.
